Easy Ankle Elastic

PATTERN(s): Premmie (Preemie) Harem Pants, Baby & Toddler Harem Pants, Baby & Toddler Tumble Bums, Kids Harem Pants, Kids Tumble Bums.

Some of you have been asking for an alternative method to inserting & closing the elastic in the baby, toddler & girls harem pants. So here it is.

Baby/Toddler Harems: 

Style A: Basic Harems - Complete Steps 1 & 2 on page 10, then follow below, then proceed to Step 5 in the tutorial.

Style B: Ruffle Harems - Complete to Step 15, then proceed as above for basics.

Style C: Dinosaur Harems - Complete to Step 12, then proceed as above for basics.

Style D: Mock Pocket - Complete to Step 11, then proceed as above for basics.

Style E: Topstitched Pocket - Complete to Step 14, then proceed as above for basics.

Style F: Pocket with Binding - Complete to Step 12, then proceed as above for basics.

Girls Harems (Little Miss Fancy Pants):

Styles C, D & E - complete to Step 20 on page 31, then proceed to below. Then go back & start from Step 23 on page 32.

Instructions:

On the left is where you will have left off on your garment, with the hem ironed up as advised.

Step 1: Overlock or zigzag raw edge of hem. Stitch along ironed up hem from edge to edge. Backstitch each end to secure.

Step 2: Insert elastic

Step 3: Secure elastic at either end of hem

Step 4: With right sides together, sew inside leg seams from crotch to hem. Overlock or zigzag seam to finish. 

Step 5: With seam towards back, stitch seam allowance neatly down at hem only.

Step 6: For Baby/Toddler Harems, go back to Step 5 on page 10 of your tutorial & proceed from there. For Girls Harems, go back to Step 23 on page 32.
