Sew the Making Moves Pants in 5 Easy Sessions

The Making Moves Pants are all about relaxed comfort with a modern edge. With their softly rounded barrel leg shape, wide-leg ease through the top, and gentle taper towards the ankle, they offer that easy-to-wear feel while still looking considered and current.

They’re a pull-on style, so you get all-day comfort without any fuss—but there’s plenty to enjoy in the details. The forward side seam enhances the shape, and the optional back leg seam adds another subtle design feature if you choose to include it.

You can keep them clean and minimal or build them up with features. Add front pockets, side leg pockets, or large back pockets depending on your style. There’s also the option to topstitch for a more defined finish. With mid or high rise options and three cutting lengths, you can tailor the look to suit exactly how you want to wear them.

To keep things relaxed, we’ve broken this sew into five easy sessions. Each step builds on the last so you can move through the process without feeling rushed—just steady progress from start to finish.

Before you begin, take a few minutes to sit down with a cuppa and read through the information pages and sewing steps. It might seem like a small thing, but it makes everything flow more smoothly—and sets you up for a great result. That’s why we’ve made it Session 1.

Let’s get started.

They’re the kind of pants you’ll reach for again and again—comfortable, wearable, and easy to style. And with all those options, there’s every chance this won’t be your last pair.

We’d love to see your version. Share your make in the Pattern Emporium Sewing Circle on Facebook. Your take on the pockets, length, or styling might be just the inspiration someone else needs to start theirs.

Now go wear them. You made that!
