Pattern Emporium patterns include a Print at Home PDF that can be printed on standard A4 or US Letter paper.

First, Use the Right App for Your Device

Computer or Laptop

Use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and print your pattern. This gives you access to the pattern's size layers and the print settings needed to print accurately.

Phone, iPad, Tablet or Chromebook

Use the Sewsy app to open and print your pattern. Sewsy allows you to select size layers and print PDF sewing patterns correctly from these devices. Download Sewsy from the app store for your device.

Before You Print

1. Choose your size and style options. Your tutorial includes a Pages to Print table showing which pages you'll need for your chosen style, options and size.
2. Select your size layer or layers. Turn off the sizes you don't need so only your required size or sizes are visible.
3. Print the test square first (page 1). Measure it to make sure your pattern is printing at the correct scale before printing the remaining pages.
4. Check your printer settings:
   • Custom Scale: 100%
   • Orientation: Auto
   • Choose paper source by PDF page size: OFF

Ready to Put Your Printed Pattern Together?

If you've printed your pattern at home, join the printed pages together before cutting out your pattern pieces.

Most Pattern Emporium patterns include size layers, allowing you to show only the size or sizes you need before printing or projecting your pattern.

This makes the pattern easier to read and is especially useful if you need to blend between sizes.

On a Computer or Laptop

Open your pattern in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader and use the Layers panel to switch individual sizes on or off.

On a Phone, iPad, Tablet or Chromebook

Open your pattern in the Sewsy app to access and select the size layers.

A Few Things to Remember

• You can select one size or multiple sizes.
• If you're blending between sizes, leave all the sizes you need switched on.
• Keep the Pattern Info layer switched on. It contains pattern information and markings that apply to all sizes.
• Some of our older classic patterns don't have size layers. Check the individual pattern listing under Pattern Specs to see whether layers are included.
• Sending an A0 file to a copy shop? Your selected layers can't be saved as a new view of the PDF and then sent or uploaded to the print shop. If you only want particular size layers printed, contact the copy shop and tell them which size layer or layers you need.

Prefer to skip printing and joining pages at home? Pattern Emporium patterns include an A0 Copy Shop file that can be printed on large-format paper at a print shop.

Before You Send Your File

Check the Printing Specs in your pattern tutorial first.

Your A0 file may contain more pages than you need to print. Depending on the pattern, the file may include alternative pieces, such as Standard and FBA fronts, on separate A0 pages.

The Printing Specs tell you exactly which A0 pages you need for the style and options you're making.

What to Ask Your Print Shop For

• A0 / plan printing
• Actual size / 100% scale
• No scaling, fitting or resizing
• Only the size layer or layers you need, if your print shop offers this service
• Only the A0 pages you need, as listed in your tutorial's Printing Specs
• Colour or black & white, depending on your preference

Pattern Emporium patterns include projector files designed to make projecting your pattern pieces clear and easy to read.

• large, easy-to-read text
• thick pattern lines
• full/open pattern pieces, so pieces normally cut on the fold are shown opened out
• size layers, so you can display only the size or sizes you need
• a choice of multi-coloured size lines or black (BLK) size lines
