Most Pattern Emporium sewing patterns include three pattern file formats: Print at Home, A0 Copy Shop and Projector.
The A0 Copy Shop file is designed to be printed on large-format paper, so there's no need to print and join individual A4 or US Letter pages at home.
Before sending your file to a printer, check your tutorial first. Depending on the pattern and the options you're making, you may not need every A0 page.
BEFORE YOU SEND YOUR PATTERN TO THE PRINTER
Check your tutorial to find:
- which pattern pieces you need for the options you're making
- which A0 pages contain those pieces
- which size or sizes you need
You may not need to print every page or every size.
WHAT TO ASK YOUR COPY SHOP FOR
Ask your printer to use these settings:
- File: A0 PDF
- Paper: A0 plan printing
- Scale: Actual Size or 100%
- Colour: Colour or black & white are both fine
- Layers: If available, ask them to print only the size or sizes you need
- Pattern Info layer: Make sure this remains turned on
IMPORTANT: DO NOT SCALE THE PATTERN
Your pattern must be printed at Actual Size or 100%. Do not select Fit, Shrink or Scale to Fit.
You can use the printer settings image below as a guide. Select the image to view it full size.
PRINTING ONLY YOUR SIZE
Most Pattern Emporium pattern files include multiple sizes in the same PDF. These are set up using layers, which allow individual sizes to be turned on or off.
If your copy shop can work with PDF layers, ask them to print only the size or sizes you need and to leave the Pattern Info layer turned on.
If they can't select layers for you, they can simply print the file with all sizes visible.
