____________
The About Town Popover Shirt & Dress is two patterns in one. Classic shirting, reimagined the PE way with clear, confidence-building instructions that we're known for.
Style 1: a centre-front seam that opens into a subtle V-neck.
Style 2: a cut-on-fold front with a clean, topstitched facing. Both feature a simple collar and relaxed shoulder-line.
Both styles include 3 versatile lengths in regular & tall cutting lines.
All styles have a fabulous wide hem (an actual hem, not a facing) for that polished finish we all love.
Sleeve styles come in a cap style (no hemming needed), plus short and long with an integrated cuff built right in - so delightfully easy & modern. Again, no fuss!
And those epaulettes (epaulets)! They’re the kind of detail that makes people ask, “Where did you get that?” Effortlessly cool and easy to add. These are optional.
Plus pockets! Of course we have pockets. Easy patch pockets or, for the dress, in-seam pockets. These are optional.
Light to medium weight woven fabrics. Great examples include: rayon, viscose, linen/rayon blend, georgette, chiffon, crepe de chine, tencel, modal, lightweight viscose or rayon twill, rayon or viscose dobby, lightweight lace.
Fabrics with more body can also be used. Just remember that these will hold their structure & be quite different to the fabrics above. Examples include linen & linen blends, shirting cotton, flannel, chambray, light denim, light cotton sateen, cotton voile, light cotton drill.
Also avoid stiff & thick fabrics. Quilting cotton is not suitable.
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS: View the fabric chart.
TRIMS: Epaulettes (optional) - 2 x buttons. Size 1.5-2cm (5/8-3/5”).
SUPPLIES: Interfacing/fusing for top collar, long & short sleeve cuffs - 2 strips, Style 2 front facing, epaulettes, top of patch pocket(s).

We recommend reading the tutorial on a device, rather than printing it. You can read your tutorial on your computer, phone or tablet.

♥ PRINTING YOUR PDF SEWING PATTERNS.
1. Open In Adobe Reader. To use the layers function in a PDF pattern, open the pattern in Adobe Reader on a laptop or desktop computer. Visit our Help & Resources index for more information on layers.
This function isn't available on the phone or tablet version. As such, some customers recommend the Xodo & Sewsy apps for layers functionality on a mobile device.
We recommend reading the tutorial off a device, rather than printing it. You can download & read your tutorial on any device.
2. Printer Settings. It's important to select the correct printer settings to ensure your pattern prints to the correct scale. You'll find printer specs in your tutorial &, for more detail, here on the website.
3. Page Printing Guide. You don’t need to print every page or size – just the ones you need. Our guide in the tutorial helps you identify exactly which pages to print.
4. Layout Summary. This shows what your print at home pattern will look like once assembled (taped together).
5. A0 Copy Shop Printing. What to ask for when printing at a copy shop. We recommend requesting plan printing and following the specs outlined above. Please note, printing at a copy shop is always going to be more expensive that printing at home.

____________
I have sewn this pattern twice, once with long sleeves and the other with short sleeves and just love the integrated cuffs! It’s such a clever design and gives such a nice finish that I incorporated on a pair of shorts. I will definitely use this method again. I have done both neckline options and really like how they came out. This pattern is perfect for showcasing a lovely fabric with its simple design.
I love this top. Everything fits together so well. My only issue is the armhole is about an inch too long for me.
Love it
This pattern is one of my favorites. I live how many different ways you can make it up.
This pattern is so well thought through, from beginning to end. I love not having to print bits I’m not using, I love the clear instructions with photographs (the use of different fabrics for different pieces is genius). And I love the FBA options. This pattern set me up for success and I really appreciate that! If you are on the fence, add my recommendation to the 70 something 5 star reviews already here and do it, I bet you’ll be back to write your own 5* review!
