EPISODE 1: LOGGING IN &
DOWNLOADING

This video guides you through logging into your account on the website & downloading your pattern & tutorial files.

NEW! EXTRA DOWNLOADING,
OPENING & PRINTING VIDEO

This is an extra video that takes a closer look at how to access your patterns on the website, how to select & download correctly, where to find  your pattern on your computer, and how to open it correctly in Adobe Reader. Plus what to select when printing so you print to the correct scale.

FURTHER NOTES:

USING A COMPUTER - ADOBE ACROBAT READER:
To open & print your pattern files correctly on a computer, you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Download Adobe Acrobat Reader here
You only need the free version. DO NOT select the Pro version.

USING A PHONE OR TABLET - SEWSY APP:
If you're using a phone or tablet, we recommend using the Sewsy app to open & print your pattern files. Sewsy allows you to select the size layers you need before printing. Visit our Help & Resources index for our guide to printing via phone or tablet.

DO NOT CLICK MULTIPLE TIMES:
Click each file ONCE to download it. Each click registers as a download, so clicking multiple times will use up your download allowance. If you do use them all, don't worry - just email support@patternemporium.com & we can reset them for you.

WHERE TO FIND YOUR DOWNLOADED FILES:
On a computer, your pattern files will usually be saved to your Downloads folder. Find the pattern file you want to use, right click the file, select Open With... and choose Adobe Acrobat Reader.

IMPORTANT - DON'T OPEN THE FILE IN YOUR INTERNET BROWSER:
You may see your pattern appear in the download area of your internet browser once it has finished downloading. Don't open it from there, as this may open the pattern in your browser instead of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Go to your computer's Downloads folder & open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader from there.

We recommend watching ALL of the videos below before you start. They'll give you a much better understanding of the whole process. In particular, watch Video 2 before opening & printing your pattern files.

LAYERS:
You can use the layers feature to select the size(s) you want to print. Please note that you cannot re-save the pattern file with only your selected size layer(s) showing.

EPISODE 2: TUTORIAL TOUR

This video takes you on a virtual tour of one of our pattern tutorials.

EPISODE 3: DETERMINING YOUR SIZE

In each of our patterns we have a guide to help you best determine your size for that particular pattern. This video guides you through this process.

EPISODE 4: PRINTING THE PDF SEWING PATTERN

This video includes information about layers.

To print individual sizes using the layers feature in Adobe Reader, you’ll need to use a laptop or desktop computer. This function isn’t available on tablets or phones.

EPISODE 5: JOINING THE SEWING PATTERN PAGES

This video guides you through joining the print-at-home pdf pattern pages together.

FURTHER NOTES:

It's helpful, when joining pages together, to print out the Pattern Layout Summary/Guide. This will show what the pattern pages looks like when stuck together. Each pattern page has a rectangle border. If your border has edges missing, it’s usually your printer settings that are incorrect. Check orientation is set to auto. On each page that joins with another you will find a small triangle with a number inside. Match corresponding numbers together to form the pattern pieces.
