The Hepburn Shorts sewing pattern, is 2 patterns in 1.
Choose between two styles: the Pull-On Hepburn Shorts for effortless wear with a full elastic waistband, or the Zipped Hepburn Shorts for a more tailored look with a shaped waistband and side zip. Both sit low on the body with a relaxed crotch.
Both styles offer optional pockets, belt loops, and a sash for added versatility. The Pull-On version boasts a quick sew and comfy fit, while the Zipped style features a relaxed, semi-tailored design with pleats and darts for added flair.
STYLE 1: The Pull-On Hepburn Shorts
If you're after a super quick pair, you can make the elastic waist version with the Easy Pull-On Shorts. The are not as tailored as the Hepburns but they do have some of the same features & some extras.
STYLE 2: The Zipped (Tailored) Hepburn Shorts
This is a very relaxed design. It features a low sitting waistband & easy crotch. These are not 'snug fit' shorts.

PRINTING YOUR PDF SEWING PATTERNS.
At Pattern Emporium, most of our patterns include Print-at-Home, A0 Copy Shop, and Projector pattern files. Each listing specifies which formats are available for that particular pattern.
In each of our sewing pattern tutorials, you’ll find detailed information specific to that pattern's printing options.
1. Printer Settings. It's important to select the correct printer settings to ensure your pattern prints to the correct scale. You'll find printer specs in your tutorial &, for more detail, here on the website.
2. Page Printing Guide. You don’t need to print every page or size – just the ones you need. Our guide in the tutorial helps you identify exactly which pages to print.
3. Layout Summary. This shows what your print at home pattern will look like once assembled (taped together).
4. A0 Copy Shop Printing. What to ask for when printing at a copy shop. We recommend requesting plan printing and following the specs outlined above. Please note, printing at a copy shop is always going to be more expensive that printing at home.
For reliable A0 printing in Australia, we recommend Kristen at Dahlia Sewciety & Shelley at Plan Make Do.
In the United States, our customers recommend PDF Plotting.

I just made these according to my measurements, and they are HUGE. No one else has had this issue? I ordered more of the same fabric, though, because I love the finished product and will try a smaller size.
Hi Denise, Thank you for your review and feedback! We're sorry to hear about the sizing issue. It's important to follow the specific sizing instructions for the Hepburn shorts, as they sit lower on the hips. We'd recommend joining our Facebook group where Melanie can help with sizing tips. We're glad you love the finished product and hope the smaller size works perfectly for you!
Great pattern and lovely shorts. Very clear instructions even for me, an absolute beginner sewer. I've made 3 pairs of the pull on version now and I wear them all the time. Highly recommend.
Hands down best shorts pattern I’ve ever made. I’ve now made 4 pairs. Easy to make.
These are a great fit. I did take 1 inch out of each side of the back for a more fitted look which suited the heavier cotton drill I used.
Great fitting shorts. Have made 2 pairs 'Urban' style in size 14 - no pattern alternations needed! Omitted the pleats on the second pair and they still look good. Happy to recommend this pattern.
