What’s the Difference Between Regular & Roomy Fits?

  • Body Fit - Regular Fit: Smaller through the shoulders, chest, and hips. Designed to fit over lighter tops, t-shirts, and tanks. Similar fit to the Smitten Jacket.
  • Body Fit - Roomy Fit: Offers extra room through the body for easy layering without being oversized. Ideal for wearing over additional layers.
  • Topstitched Back – Regular: Available in lengths 1 & 2.
  • Topstitched Back – Roomy: Available in all lengths, providing more ease through the hips.
  • Pleated Back - Available in all 3 lengths in both regular & roomy fit. The pleat provides extra room over the hip/seat.
  • Collar: Regular is slightly narrower, but both collars share the same neckline and can be used interchangeably on either fit.
  • Cuffs: Regular and Roomy cuffs differ slightly, but both fit either sleeve. Note that sleeve length will vary slightly depending on the cuff chosen.
  • 2-Piece Sleeve Fit: The Roomy sleeve has a wider circumference but works with either body fit.
  • Short Sleeve: Regular Fit has a narrower top arm and hem measurement, but both short sleeves can be used with either fit.
  • Mix & Match: Most pattern pieces (sleeves, cuffs, collar, pockets, placket interfacing, and button template) are interchangeable between the Regular and Roomy fits. The body (front, back, yoke) should not be mixed between fits.

For more detailed guidance on mixing and matching, see the tutorial.

PRINTING YOUR PDF SEWING PATTERNS.

At Pattern Emporium, most of our patterns include Print-at-Home, A0 Copy Shop, and Projector pattern files. Each listing specifies which formats are available for that particular pattern.

In each of our sewing pattern tutorials, you’ll find detailed information specific to that pattern's printing options.

1. Printer Settings. It's important to select the correct printer settings to ensure your pattern prints to the correct scale. You'll find printer specs in your tutorial &, for more detail, here on the website.

2. Page Printing Guide. You don’t need to print every page or size – just the ones you need. Our guide in the tutorial helps you identify exactly which pages to print.

3. Layout Summary. This shows what your print at home pattern will look like once assembled (taped together).

4. A0 Copy Shop Printing. What to ask for when printing at a copy shop. We recommend requesting plan printing and following the specs outlined above.

Great Jacket

First time I have sewn a pattern emporium jacket. I really enjoyed the top stitching and the large cuff. Easy to s3e I made it in a light blue cotton drill fabric from spotlight. The instructions were good the design was nice. The fabric was going to be a Big 4 half trench but I changed my mind. I am very happy with the result. It sits just around my hip and the back pleat gives it a demi trenchcoat feel. It is nice and warm lovely for spring weather as it is still a little cool.

Hi Lisa! Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed making your first Pattern Emporium jacket. It sounds perfect for spring, and we’re thrilled you're happy with the result. Happy sewing!
