FABRIC: 4-way stretch knit fabric with good recovery. Your fabric must contain lycra, spandex or elastane.

STRETCH FACTOR: Horizontal stretch: 30%+. Vertical stretch: 20%+. Do not use fabric with zero vertical stretch.

Beautiful dress

I made a wearable toile of the own your own magic dress it’s an absolute hit with me surprisingly flattering on my maturing body. I love the way the neck band is constructed arms How it looks. I’m on holiday and I’ve worn it lots. As soon as I get home I’m making another one or maybe two!!

Love the style

I made life difficult for myself with this make because I chose to use a stripey fabric. All the stipes matched up perfectly initially, but I found that I had to make several pattern adjustments. I didn't want a bodycon dress, I'm 72, so it's just not a look for me these days. I have to grade out for the bust and waist, but need a smaller size for my upper chest and shoulders. They are fairly standard adjustments for me and were not a surprise. There did seem to be an exaggerated hip curve in this pattern, and that's where my stripe matching went awry, as I had to take it in considerably. I will wear my dress, but am unlikely to make another.
