We love the drama of a jumpsuit. That instant outfit. The head-to-toe moment. The swish of wide legs or the ease of a summer short. But let’s be honest—real jumpsuits can be a pain in the you-know-what... especially when nature calls.
That’s why we’re all about faking it. Sewing two separate pieces—a top and pants or top and shorts—in the same fabric creates the illusion of a jumpsuit or romper, without the bathroom gymnastics. And the best part? You can wear them together or mix them into your regular wardrobe. It’s the look of a jumpsuit with all the flexibility of separates.
Here’s how we’ve been ‘faking it’ lately with both stretch and woven patterns that pair up perfectly - summer & winter.
Part 1: Woven Jumpsuit & Romper Combos
Kate & Meredith – Low Key Cami + Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants
Rayon
Light, relaxed and ready for summer. This set gives effortless jumpsuit energy with floaty palazzo legs and a cami that tucks in just enough to fool everyone. I added belt keepers and a sash to pull it all together (and give it that "bought-it-like-this" vibe).
After pants with a little less flare? Try the Coco Wide Leg Pants.

Melanie – Low Key Cami + Getaway Shorts
Rayon | Animal print | Pockets
Melanie’s set is cool, casual, and ready for summer. The Low Key Cami and Getaway Shorts in animal-print rayon make the perfect pair—lightweight, easy to wear, and full of fun. Add pockets (of course), and you’ve got a relaxed faux romper that looks put-together without even trying.

Terri – Spill The Tea Blouse + Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants
Rayon challis
Terri joined her husband on a work trip and naturally, that called for a whole new travel wardrobe. This set, made from rayon challis, turned out to be her favourite of the trip. The Spill The Tea Blouse and Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants come together for an effortlessly chic faux jumpsuit that’s light, swishy, and perfect for warm days away. Terri summed it up best: “I just looooove it.” And we can see why.

Amanda – Lyrical Shirt + Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants
Rayon/viscose | Worn with Hugs & Kisses Cami + wide belt
Chic with a capital C. Amanda layered her shirt over a cami and cinched it all with a wide belt for a jumpsuit look that works for brunch, dinner, or the office. It’s smart, floaty, and beautifully put together.

Melanie – Be Mine Balloon Sleeve Top + Getaway Shorts
Linen | Olive green
This is the romper reimagined. Melanie’s outfit is relaxed, stylish, and looks like one easy piece. The neutral linen keeps it earthy, but the silhouette brings all the charm of a playsuit.

Amanda – Spill The Tea Blouse + Getaway Shorts
Rayon
Soft, floaty, and secretly two pieces, this set gives effortless faux-romper energy. Amanda paired the tie-neck version of the Spill The Tea Top with matching Getaway Shorts in rayon for a light and playful look that feels pulled together without trying too hard. Easy to wear, easy to love—and no buttons or zips in sight.

Al – Spill The Tea Blouse + Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants
Rayon | Bright pink animal print
This combo is a statement. Bold print, breezy shapes, and a whole lot of fake-it flair. Al’s version shows how a drapey blouse and matching pants can look just as pulled together as a designer jumpsuit—but way comfier.

Phillipa – Meet You There + Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants
Cotton sateen from Spotlight | Sewn for a wedding
Phillipa created this set as a wedding guest outfit. It's fabulous! It has the elegance of a jumpsuit, with the practicality of separates. The added length (6") in the bodice gives it a true jumpsuit silhouette, no zips required.

Al – Be Mine Balloon Sleeve Top + Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants
Satin crepe | Elasticated top hem
Birthday getaway style, sorted. Al needed something comfy and elevated—and this did the trick. She elasticated the hem of her top to give it a blouson finish, and the satin crepe brings all the luxe.

Kim – Low Key Cami + Vacation Vibe Palazzo Pants
Rayon | Palm tree print
Island-ready and perfectly relaxed. Kim sewed this set for her Caribbean vacation, and it’s got all the ‘resort wear’ feels without being too fussy. Looks like a chic holiday jumpsuit—packs like a dream.

Rayon | Warm weather holiday vibes
This breezy set is giving vacation energy in the best way. Amanda paired the oversized Ocean Daze Shirt with matching Getaway Shorts for a relaxed, effortless romper look—perfect for sun-drenched days and easy summer strolls. The soft rayon keeps it cool and floaty, while the matching print ties it all together like a one-and-done outfit (minus the one-piece hassle).

Part 2: Stretch Jumpsuit & Romper Combos
Kate – Flawsome Top + Stretch Palazzo Pants
Viscose elastane from Wattle Hill
A draped top and wide sweeping pants = stretch jumpsuit magic. This set is casual, comfy, and looks like you’ve made way more effort than you actually did.

Kate, Melanie, Sophie & Kim - Hugs & Kisses Cami + Sashay Shorts
This one’s part romper, part activewear, and 100% fun. The snug fit and short shorts make it a sporty little look that’s perfect for summer days, beachside lounging, or just looking fab in fake-it style.
We all made the same set. Kate & Melanie's are poolside perfection in swim fabric from Boo! Designs. Sophie's is in viscose jersey with the low back with power mesh shelf bra. Kim's is rayon spandex, also with a power mesh shelf bra & high back.

Kate – Chasing Butterflies Sweater + Walk Boldly Pants
Sweater knit
Comfy, cosy, and made for cooler days. This relaxed set pairs the soft batwing Chasing Butterflies Top with long sleeve warmth and the Walk Boldly Pants—complete with jean-style front pockets and welt pockets at the back. Worn with sneakers for an off-duty vibe, it’s the perfect blend of lounge and street. Secretly separates, but totally jumpsuit in spirit.

Meredith – Yours Truly Tank + Stretch Palazzo Pants
Chic floral print
Meredith’s set is the perfect blend of elegant and easy. The Yours Truly Tank pairs effortlessly with the Stretch Palazzo Pants for a look that reads dressy but feels totally relaxed. Made in a chic floral print, this faux jumpsuit is ideal for everything from lunch dates to lazy afternoons—proof that casual can still be beautifully put together.

Sarah Marie – Game On One Shoulder Top + Stretch Palazzo Pants
(1) Stretch broderie anglais & (2) Animal print
This version adds texture to the mix. Sarah Marie’s stretch broderie anglais makes it feel elevated and a bit fancy, proving that ‘faking it’ can still be fabulous.

Al – Game On One Shoulder Top + Walk Boldly Pants
Viscose jersey | Bold floral print
Al said it best: “This makes a good alternative to a jumpsuit—I do love a jumpsuit but not the getting in and out of it!!” The fitted top and slightly structured pant create the silhouette you love without the wardrobe drama.

Amanda – Hello Gorgeous Tee + Walk Boldly Wide Leg Pants
Lurex jersey | Short length
After loving the fabric in her fit & flare dress, Amanda knew it needed a second life—as a sparkly set. She paired the Hello Gorgeous Tee with the Walk Boldly Wide Leg Pants in a high-rise, short-length version, complete with elastic waist and jeans-style pockets. The result? A glam faux jumpsuit that shines and solves the bathroom dilemma (no chilly loo breaks here, thank you very much). Amanda says: “I’m sooooo pleased with the result!” And honestly, same.

Erica – Endless Summer Tee + Walk Boldly Wide Leg Pants
Cotton lycra | Animal print
Erica’s take on the faux jumpsuit is equal parts comfy and clever. She made the Walk Boldly Pants in a high-waisted version and paired them with a matching cap sleeve Endless Summer Tee. The result? A sleek, elevated loungewear look in a bold animal print that moves and stretches with ease. No pockets, no fly, no fuss—just a fabulously fitted one-piece vibe that’s secretly two.

Poly knit | Bold pink & white floral
Sandra’s set is a striking take on the faux jumpsuit, made in a poly knit with a bright pink and white graphic floral print. The Time Out Tank and Walk Boldly Pants combo creates a clean silhouette that lets the fabric do all the talking. It’s bold, fun, and the perfect reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a great print to fake the look of a fabulous jumpsuit.

Marie-Eve – Game On One Shoulder Top + Just Peachy Shorts
Cotton spandex | Summery hibiscus print
Marie-Eve nailed the romper vibe with this bright and breezy combo. She used the high-waisted yoga band version of the Just Peachy Shorts (with pockets and darts for shape), then made a matching One Shoulder Tank in the same hibiscus cotton spandex. The result? A fun, easy-wear set that totally looks like a one-piece—and feels even better. As Marie-Eve says: “It gives a one-piece look that I adore!”

And that’s a wrap on our favourite faux jumpsuits and rompers! Whether you’re chasing everyday comfort or dress-up vibes, matching sets have your back.
Stay tuned for our next Faking It post—where we’ll dive into intentional sets that don’t pretend to be anything but fabulous.
