The Girls Gathered Skirt features an elastic back & flat front waistband with lots of options, including pockets, in sizes 2-10.
Get the look of a neat zippered skirt from the front with a practicality of elastic at the back. This elastic back waist allows for a skirt that our little girls can wear longer without complaining that the waist is cutting off their circulation (which I must admit can be very dramatic and very cute at the same time).

To determine size, measure around the hip/seat. This measurement is taken around the fullest part of the child's seat. The tape measure should be firm but not tight.

FABRIC & TRIM OUTLINE:
TRIM REQUIREMENTS: 25mm (1") elastic. Lightweight interfacing.
FABRIC SUGGESTIONS: What can't you make this little skirt out of! The gorgeous prints available to you in quilting fabric ranges make this the ideal fabric. You can also use light to medium weight fabrics including rayon, linen, cotton voile, cotton blends.
For special occasions, like a flower girl in a wedding for example, you can even use silk or silk like fabrics. How beautiful would an off-white silk look, with the front waistband in a contrast colour to match the flowers.
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS: The following table outlines fabric requirements based on 110cm (44") fabric.
Please note: (1) The estimates below do not include directional fabrics. I recommend you cut out the pattern & lay the pieces down on a flat surface to help estimate fabric needs for directional fabric. (2) If you are sewing with rayon, remember to allow for shrinkage & buy a little extra. (3) Also it’s wise to pre-wash your fabrics, in particular rayon.
