Heartstrings Dress with Optional Shelf Bra

The Heartstrings Dress is a fit & flare style featuring a fitted bodice with narrow or wide straps, waist seam & A-line skirt. It is designed for stretch knit fabrics & includes an optional shelf bra that you're going to love!

◄FEATURES

• SILHOUETTE: Fit & flare.
• BACK: High or low.
• FRONT: Band or binding along neckline.
• INSIDE: Single layer, lined or shelf bra.
• SHELF BRA: This is optional & can be made in self fabric or, for extra support, athletic knit or power mesh.
• FINISHES: Binding, fold over elastic (FOE).
• STRAPS:Binding, fold over elastic, added wide straps (with ring) or adjustable straps. Use soft Lastin, clear swim elastic or plain elastic.
• LENGTHS: Above knee, below knee & long.
• FABRIC: 4-way stretch knit fabrics. Not suitable for woven fabrics.

◄SIZING

• This pattern covers sizes 4-30. 
• This pattern is sized using your upper bust (UB) measurement for the bodice & your hip/seat (H/S) measurement for skirt section.
• UB range: 73-135cm (28.75-58.75").
• H/S range: 80-150cm (31-59"), measured 20cm (8") down from the natural waist.

◄FABRIC

For a cool summer dress, it sews up beautifully in cotton lycra, bamboo, viscose or modal knits. Layer up in winter over a fitted tee or sweater - try sweater knit, wool or French terry. Splash out in a fabulous graphic print in saturated colours - try swim fabric or poly knit.

• 4-way & 2-way stretch knits with vertical give.

Suggestions include cotton lycra, swim fabric, athletic knit, Merino Wool Knit, Rib Knit, Jacquard knit, Viscose or rayon elastane knits, Double brushed poly (DBP), Single brushed poly (SBP), Stretch knit crepe, Poly elastane knits, Bamboo elastane, Modal Lycra. 

Shelf bra suggestions: as above or, for more support use athletic knit, power mesh or power net. For increased support, sew a 2 layer shelf bra.

STRAPS (MAIN TUTORIAL): 6-10mm (1/4-3/8") Lastin, clear swim elastic or plain elastic (not knitted).

SHELF BRA (OPTIONAL): 2.5cm (1") - 4cm (1.5") soft (plush) elastic.

ALTERNATIVE TO BINDING/STRAPS: Fold over elastic (FOE) in 2cm (3/4"), 2.5cm (1") or 3cm (1 1/8') width.

WIDE ADD ON STRAP (OPTIONAL): 2 x 12-18mm (1/2-3/4") bra ring. 6-10mm (1/4-3/8") elastic (Lastin, clear swim or plain).

ADJUSTABLE STRAPS (OPTIONAL): Bra ring & slider to match width of FOE or binding.

1. Sign in to your account on the website. Select 'My Account' or 'My Pattern Library' from the menu. 

2. Click on the big pink button that says ‘Download Patterns’. This sends you to your pattern library.

3. Click on the pattern/style you want to download. 

4. Then click on the file (or files) you wish to download.
