Dream On Tiered Dress Sewing Pattern Line Drawing

If you already own the Every Day's A Weekend Dress & prefer to just purchase the bodice add-on, this is available here

GATHERING WITH ELASTIC: To make this even faster & easier, we’ve also included instructions on how to gather with elastic, including my recommendations on the best elastic to use. A video link is included.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE between the Dream On Dress & the Every Day's A Weekend Dress (EDAW)?
    1. Bodices: Dream On is fully fitted to the body. EDAW is easy fit.
    2. Sleeveless: Dream On has a sleeveless option. EDAW doesn't.
    3. Skirt: Dream On has skirt option. EDAW doesn't.
    4. Maxi: Dream On includes maxi length. EDAW doesn't. Tier 1 is also slightly narrower on the Dream On too.
    5. V-neck: EDAW has a v-neck. Dream On doesn't.
    6. Gathering With Elastic Video: Dream On has a video.

    SIZING
  • Size Range: Aussie Size 4-30 (approximately US 0-28)
  • Upper Bust Measurement 73-135cm (28.5-53").
  • View size chart here
  • FABRIC & TRIMS

    FABRIC:

  • Designed for 4-way stretch knit fabrics.
  • Horizontal stretch 25%+. Vertical stretch 15%+.
  • 2-way stretch knit fabrics with spandex, good recovery & vertical give can be used but please note that as the bodice is fitted, some 2-way stretch fabrics may sit higher on the body, particularly if they don't have spandex.
  • Fabric suggestions include Viscose or rayon elastane knits, Double brushed poly (DBP), Single brushed poly (SBP), Stretch knit crepe, Poly elastane knits, Cotton Lycra (recommend soft & not over 180gsm), Bamboo & Modal elastane knits, Cupro, ITY, Wool knits, Sweater knit, Hacci, DTY, Liverpool.
  • Click here to view mini, knee & midi lengths.
  • Click here to view maxi length & skirts.
  • This pattern is not suitable for woven fabrics, including stretch woven fabrics.
  •

    TRIMS:

  • Bishop & Cropped Bishop Sleeve: 12mm (1/2") elastic.
  • 6mm clear elastic to stabilise the gathering & waist. I recommend using Lastin - the frosted clear elastic. It is the least noticeable on Tier 1/2 join.
  • Note: you can also gather the traditional way if you prefer. In this case, you'll only need elastic for the waist. Woven elastic, knitted elastic, rubber or clear elastic can be use here (not braided elastic as it stretches out of shape).
  • PATTERN HACKS & MASHES
  • Empire Line Dress: Take the bodice up for an Empire Line tiered dress.
  • Peplum Top: Sew a peplum top by adding a shortened tier to the bodice hem.
  • Hoodie Dress: Sew a hoodie tiered dress by using the hood & neckline from one of our other patterns (eg. Yours Truly, the Unwind Jumper or the Lounge Dress)
  • Puff Sleeve Tiered Dress: Sew a puff sleeve tiered dress by using the puff sleeve pattern pieces in the Hello Gorgeous Top pattern.

Go to Pattern throughout the year

The design is great, loads of options, great fit, quick and easy to make, instructions are excellent. This is my go to dress pattern formy daily life. You can make different styles for all seasons of the year. I cannot recommend this pattern enough. It's an absolutely bargain what you pay and what you get. My pattern is definitely payed off from all the times I've used it.

    Keep on dreaming on.

I had made 4 EDAW dresses and loved them, but really did like the more fitted silhouette of the dream on dress. I could have bought just the bodice, but chose to buy the full pattern. I'm a UK size 12 but. knew from making the Every Day. a W/E that I needed to size down considerably (especially for my viscose Jersey. I started with a size 10, really lovely, fits beautifully with a little more ease than. I'd expected, so I made the size 8 and it's perfect. I'm 5'2" so by cutting all of the full length tiers I have a maxi that is the perfect length, just hitting my flat shoes after hemming. I now have a long list of dresses to sew up for my daughters that both want one in every colour and print. As always, Kate's tutorial is spot on and leaves nothing to the imagination, no head-scratchy moments, it flows together. So So happy. Just have to add, until this dress and the EDAW dresses, I hadn't worn a dress or skirt for 40+ years, and I can't believe just how confident I feel wearing these dresses (maybe because I've Meade them all in maxi length, but probably because they are just so dang lovely. Thank you Kate, so so happy.

Thank you Maria. I'd have a little chat with Mel in the group about your sizing too :)

    Perfect dress for any occasion

This was the first dress I made myself and I got so many compliments from it. The instructions are easy to follow for a beginner.
I love how this dress also give me a 90’s feels :)
