    Mardi Gras Staple

I live in New Orleans and it’s the middle of Mardi Gras season. A friend of mine is getting married on the parade route. I knew I had to wear something special for this event. I chose a premium cotton with a Mardi Gras motif to make the Be Mine Balloon Sleeve Top. I’ve worn the top several times now and always receive compliments on it. The instructions were so easy to follow, and I’m ready to make my next one from cornflower blue linen from Italy.

    What a classy blouse.

Made my first in rayon crepe and did all the little extras. It takes time, but it really makes a difference in the look of the garment. The center seams, the keyhole button closure, the top-stitching. On my second one now. I’m not a fast sewist, so it takes me working on it for about 4 days, a couple of hours a day.
